Description

The EN10305 E215 precision steel tube is a cost-effective cold rolled ERW carbon steel tubing specifically designed for general machinery manufacturing and lightweight structural components. Manufactured in accordance with European standard EN10305, this precision tube offers excellent formability, good weldability, and consistent dimensional accuracy at an economical price point.

 

Material Grade and Properties

Material Grade and Properties

The E215 steel grade (1.0033) provides a balanced combination of mechanical properties suitable for non-critical structural and mechanical applications. With a minimum yield strength of 215 MPa and tensile strength ranging from 270 to 410 MPa, this tubing delivers adequate strength for light to medium load requirements. The low carbon content (max 0.11%) is significantly lower than E235 and E355 grades, resulting in superior ductility and formability. The tightly controlled chemical composition—manganese max 0.70%, phosphorus and sulfur each limited to 0.025%—ensures consistent welding performance and excellent cold forming characteristics.

Automotive Applications

Process

These precision tubes are produced from cold rolled carbon steel strips through electric resistance welding, followed by cold drawing over a mandrel (DOM). This manufacturing sequence eliminates internal weld beads, achieves tight dimensional tolerances, and produces a smooth, uniform surface finish. The cold drawing process refines the grain structure and improves concentricity, resulting in a tube that performs reliably in various mechanical applications.
